A SIMPLE FIRST DAY

Three phases.
Seven clear steps.

PHASE 01

YOUR MEDIA SERVER

Set up the computer that holds your library.

Three short steps on your Windows computer.

  1. 01

    COMPUTER

Run the installer, open Beebo, and follow the welcome screens.

  3. 03

    YOUR LIBRARY

    Choose your folders.

  1. 05

    BETA · OPTIONAL

    Let Beebo connect you.

If a direct connection is not possible, Beebo Relay is an optional backup route. It works today and has been used in real homes where the router would not allow a direct connection. Try your own connection options first. Relay is in beta: sign-up is not open to everyone yet, and paid plans are still planned.

  2. 06

    PHONE OR TABLET

    Download the phone app.

Beebo Auto 1.18

Test download for Android Auto

Other platforms & testing availability

Fire TV, Roku and LG TVs have in-development tester builds with install guides; none has been tested on a real TV yet. The others have no installer yet. Open each platform’s page for its current status and browser alternatives.

Test builds still need real-device feedback. Platform versions and available features differ. Release notes · Help test Beebo

FEATURE SPOTLIGHT / CAMPSITE MODE

Share the moment.
Leave the internet behind.

Download your media before the trip. At camp, the host opens a Campsite Mode QR code. Guests scan it to join over local Wi-Fi without a Beebo account. A host and guest have joined successfully on two real Android phones, and on October 4 one film was shared from a host phone to a guest phone.

More films, more guests, shared photos and games still need separate real-device testing. Once files are saved on the host phone, your home computer does not need to stay on for local playback.

Local hotspot and device compatibility apply. Remote participation uses a separate internet connection.

Who we are

Beebo Entertainment makes Beebo: a free, local-first media server with apps. It runs on your own Windows computer, holds the movies, shows, music, photos, audiobooks, podcasts and radio you already own, and streams them to your phone, tablet, TV, car or any web browser. Video goes straight from your computer to the viewer whenever it can. Beebo's own servers carry only small text, such as sign-in and connection set-up.

Beebo is made by a family man, not a data company. The code is closed source (all rights reserved). Beebo includes no movies, shows, music or channels; you bring your own files, and Live TV means your own tuner or your own playlist. We use the four labels Available, Beta, In development and Planned, and we never write a flat "100% working". Optional extras such as Beebo Relay (Beta) and BeeboVPN (In development) are listed with their label; this page does not list prices.

How complete are we?

16% of the 147 features we list are Available, 66% are Available or Beta.

Where the code is at

The code is about 91% built and passing its automated tests, and about 28% of our real-device and real-world checks have passed. Most of what is left is real-world testing. 66 features: 0 confirmed working on real devices, 30 code complete and waiting for real-world testing, 36 code still being finished.

These percentages measure our own checklist, not that nothing can go wrong. Updated Oct 19, 2026, 9:25 AM Eastern. See every feature and what is left to do.

The testing percentages on this page come from our testing evidence page (release-evidence.html), and its overall figure is 54%: each of its 66 features has 5 checks worth 20% each (Built, Automated tests, Real device, Real-world check, and Ready to call Available, which is ticked only once the exact published download has been tested). By group: Android phone app 60%, Windows desktop app 54%, Other systems 47%, Services and website 41%. When a feature is on both lists, its label, percentage and Tested on note are read from that page, and if the two labels differ the stricter one is shown. The last column below averages that page's numbers for the features that appear on both lists.

By status: 23 Available, 74 Beta, 45 In development, 5 Planned.

How to read this. These percentages are share-of-list counts, not a promise or an audit. Every feature we list counts once, whether it is big or small, so a long list of small Beta items can move the number as much as one big feature. Features that were dropped or retired, and ideas, are not counted. Available means it is in a current download and a person has run its main use on a real device or PC. Beta means it is in a download or switchable today but is new, tested only by automatic tests, or had real problems. In development means it is being built, switched off, not in a download, or never tried on the real equipment it needs. Planned means intended, not built. The data file is site-data/what-we-offer.json; a script calculates the label counts from it and reads the testing numbers from testing-status.json.

  • Original coordination hub with its own separate login Retired Removed from the Android apps on Oct 2, 2026. Beebo now has one sign-in.
  • "Stream from my PC" button in the phone app Retired Removed from the phone app on Oct 3, 2026. Remote Desktop is the planned replacement and is In development.
  • 3D characters and story videos Paused On hold. The painted 2D look stays.

What is finished

23 of the 147 listed features are Available today. They are the ones in the lists above marked Available; "finished" never means every part has been tested.

What we are working on

  • Making Campsite game rooms clear when players leave, so the lead passes to someone who is still there and the host can end a game.
  • Fixing bottom sheets that sit under the phone's navigation bar, and screens that are cramped in landscape.
  • Letting a Campsite guest save a shared video to their own phone, with the host approving each request.
  • Letting a passenger in a Car Party watch what is playing, and joining with a blank name.
  • A first-run setup and a Test my connection screen, and an Ask the owner button for a viewer who cannot connect.
  • A self-serve switch to turn Beebo Relay on for your own account, plus a usage line on the phone.
  • Family Watch Together: face tiles beside the film so far-away family can watch along.
  • Saving a Trip Journal as a video on every phone, and trip links opened from the desktop app.
  • Bringing the podcasts you already follow into Beebo, and fixing following a new podcast.
  • Phone speakers: automatic line-up, keeping the room between videos, and a movable panel.
  • Android TV focus and readability polish, and finishing Link a TV.
  • Letting Campsite guests who are not on the same Wi-Fi join by invite link.
  • The Windows app's music player window, which stayed silent in a test.
  • More real-device tests: a real car, a real TV, a real tuner, a real Mac, a real Linux desktop and a NAS.

Problems we know about

  • On a phone, sound stops when the screen turns off unless the player's Screen off option is on.
  • Following a new podcast from the phone failed in a test on Oct 13.
  • Saving a Trip Journal as a video failed in the published phone build; the fix is not in a download yet.
  • The Windows app's own music window stayed silent in a test; a fix is written and not in a download yet.
  • The Music screen's Albums, Artists and Songs buttons overlap a heading on two phones.
  • The phone's volume keys do not change the TV volume while casting.
  • An ordinary trip link opens only on the home Wi-Fi unless away links are switched on.
  • The demo player has no subtitles button although the title page mentions one.

Common questions

What is Beebo Entertainment?

Beebo is a free, local-first media server with apps. It runs on your own Windows computer, holds the movies, shows, music, photos, audiobooks, podcasts and radio that you already own, and streams them to your phone, tablet, TV, car or any web browser. Beebo includes no movies or shows; you bring your own files.

Is Beebo free?

The Windows server and the apps are free to use at home. Optional extras such as Beebo Relay (Beta) and BeeboVPN (In development) are listed with their status, and their terms are not final. Prices are listed on one page only, the pricing page, and Relay is not available to buy yet.

Is Beebo open source?

No. Beebo's own code is closed source and all rights are reserved. It does use third-party open-source components, and the apps include a notices screen that lists them.

Does my video go through Beebo's servers?

Whenever possible, video goes straight from your computer to the viewer. Beebo's servers carry only small text such as sign-in and connection set-up. If a direct connection cannot be made, the optional Beebo Relay (Beta) can carry the video; it is end-to-end encrypted and the relay cannot see it.

Which devices work today?

The server runs on Windows 10 and 11 and is Available. You watch with the Android test app, in any web browser, or by casting to a Chromecast. Linux and Docker or NAS are Beta. Fire TV, Roku, LG, Samsung, Xbox, macOS and the native iPhone, iPad and Apple TV apps are In development and have not been tested on real hardware.

Is Beebo on Google Play?

No. The Android app is a test download from this website that you install yourself. The Google Play version is in development and has not been submitted.

What is not finished?

Many things. The full list on this page says exactly which features are Available, Beta, In development or Planned, what was tested on real devices and when, and what nobody has tested yet. Examples: TV apps on real TVs, a real tuner, a real Mac, a real Linux desktop, and most of Beebo Auto beyond one real car check.

How is the completion percentage worked out?

It is a share-of-list count, not a promise and not an audit. For example, the share of listed features whose label is Available. The rules and the data file are on this page, and the numbers are calculated from that file by a script.

What does Beebo keep about me?

Your files stay on your own computer. Beebo keeps the amount of data used per account and basic connection records, including IP addresses, for 7 days for abuse checks. Nothing is sold.

Do you test on real devices?

Yes, on our own devices: a Galaxy S24 Ultra, a Galaxy S9+, a Chromecast TV, Windows PCs and one real car on one drive. These are our own checks, not a broad beta. Every line says what was tried and what was not.

Last updated Oct 14, 2026, 9:12 AM Eastern. Real-device results are from our own phones, PCs and TV, not a broad beta. A test that was not run is unknown, not broken.
