Test: Shared photos & videos (Family Timeline)
Share photos and short videos from one phone to the other phones at your campsite, over your own Wi-Fi. This sheet takes about 45 minutes.
Status: In development, open for testing.
In the app this is called Shared photos & videos (More > Play > Outdoors, and Campsite Mode). Family Timeline is the website name.
It runs on an Android phone as the host. Guests only need a browser.
What you need
- Two phones on the same Wi-Fi with no guest-network isolation: an Android phone with the newest Beebo test build (the host) and a second phone with a browser (the guest). An iPhone with Safari is a bonus third guest.
- Made-up photos and videos only, or your own. Do not use photos of other people.
- Prepare 4 photos (one over 20 MB if you can) and 2 short videos (one over 150 MB if you can).
- Write your phone models, Android versions, Beebo build and the date at the top of your notes.
Your ticks are saved only in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to report.
Test steps
Step 1
On the host phone open Play > Outdoors > Shared photos & videos (before starting Campsite).
You should see: A screen that says to start Campsite first.
Step 2
Open Campsite and tap Invite guests. Go back to Shared photos & videos.
You should see: The sharing page opens with "Start host presentation".
Step 3
On the guest phone, join the campsite with the QR code or the address. Open the sharing page.
You should see: "Waiting for the campsite host". No working Start, Previous, Next or Add buttons.
Step 4
Host: tap Start host presentation.
You should see: Host sees "You are presenting". Guest sees that the host is presenting.
Step 5
Host: tap Add photos or videos. Choose 4 photos and 2 videos.
You should see: A progress bar for each file. All 6 appear on the host and the guest.
Step 6
Host: tap Next, Next, Previous. Then swipe left and right.
You should see: The guest picture follows within about 2 seconds. The counter matches (for example 2 / 6).
Step 7
Host: pick a video, play it, pause with Pause video, seek forward.
You should see: The guest video plays, pauses and jumps to the same place (within about 1 second). Tap "Tap to play" on the guest if asked.
Step 8
Guest: try to change the picture (tap items, swipe). Tap Mute.
You should see: Nothing changes for others. Mute only changes the guest phone.
Step 9
Host: lock the screen for 3 minutes, then unlock. Write down what happened.
You should see: Either answer is useful: tick Still there or Gone, and tell us.
Step 10
Host: switch to another app for 30 seconds and come back.
You should see: The show is still there and the guest still follows.
Step 11
Guest: turn Wi-Fi off and on.
You should see: The guest page comes back and shows the current picture.
Step 12
Host: add a photo over 20 MB or a video over 150 MB.
You should see: A plain message about the size limit. Nothing is added.
Step 13
Host: start adding a big video, then turn host Wi-Fi off halfway.
You should see: A message that the upload was interrupted. No half file in the list.
Step 14
Host: add files until you try for number 26.
You should see: A message about the 25 file limit.
Step 15
Host: tap End presentation.
You should see: Both phones go empty. The guest cannot reopen an old picture.
Step 16
Host: start a new presentation.
You should see: The old files are gone. Only new ones show.
Step 17
Host: add files, then force-close the Beebo app. Reopen it and check Settings > Apps > Beebo > Storage (cache size). Write the size before and after.
You should see: The photos should not stay behind.
Step 18
Swap the phones (the second phone hosts, the first is the guest). Repeat the steps from "Host: tap Start host presentation" to "Guest: try to change the picture".
You should see: Same results.
Step 19
iPhone Safari guest, if you have one: join, follow the pictures and play a video.
You should see: Pictures show. Video plays in the page. Say if it does not.
Step 20
Turn on TalkBack on the host. Go through Start, Add, Next, End.
You should see: Each button is read out and easy to hit.
Step 21
Change the guest phone language to Spanish or German. Open the page.
You should see: The page text is in that language. The app menu item may still be English: write it down.
Step 22
Read the small print under the buttons on the guest page.
You should see: It says who can see the files and that they are removed at the end. Say if it should also say guests can save a copy.
