Beebo on your devices
Beebo turns a Windows PC into your own home media server, then plays your library on your phone, tablet, browser and TV. This page shows what works today, what is in development, and what is only planned, so you know before you download.
The short version: the Beebo server runs on a Windows 10 or 11 PC, with a Linux beta coming. To watch, use the Android app, any web browser, or cast to a Chromecast or Google TV. Native apps for Roku, Samsung and LG TVs, and Apple devices are not available yet.
What works on which device
Beebo has two parts. The server is the computer that holds your own movie and show files. The viewers are the phones, browsers and TVs you watch on. Here is where each device stands today.

Available and works today mean you can use it now. Beta means a first version is coming with the next release. In development means it is being built, with no date. Planned means we intend to do it, with no date. Notify me opens your email app with a short message to testers@beeboentertainment.com. It is a plain email, with no form and no sign-up.
Where each part runs
The server: Windows now, Linux in beta
Your movies and shows stay on one computer you own, and that computer has to be on while people watch from it. Today that computer runs Windows 10 or 11. A Linux version is in beta.
The viewers: Android, any browser, and your TV
Watch with the Android app on a phone or tablet, or in any web browser. For the big screen, cast to a Chromecast or Google TV, or run the Android app on Android TV or Google TV. Roku, Samsung, LG and Apple TV apps are not available yet. The Playing on TVs guide and the NAS and Docker guide have the steps.
Away from home
Every Beebo gets a free address like yourname.beebo.tv. Open it on mobile data or any Wi-Fi, sign in, and your library is there. Beebo tries a direct connection to your home PC first. Questions about devices
Which devices does Beebo work on today?
The Beebo server runs on a Windows 10 or 11 PC. You watch on Android phones and tablets with the Android app, in any web browser (including Safari on iPhone and iPad), and on a TV by casting to a Chromecast or Google TV. Android TV and Google TV can also run the Android app directly. A Linux server is in beta and is coming with the next release.
Does Beebo work on Windows 10?
Yes. Beebo’s server and app run on Windows 10 and Windows 11. The PC needs to be on while you stream from it, and you supply your own movie and show files.
Is there a Beebo app for iPhone, iPad or Apple TV?
Not yet. A native Apple app is planned, needs Apple’s approval, and has no date. Today, iPhone and iPad can watch in Safari, and you can send video to an Apple TV with AirPlay from Safari on an iPhone, iPad or Mac. Offline downloads need the Android app.
Is there a Beebo app for Roku, Samsung or LG TVs?
Not yet. Roku and Samsung/LG smart TV apps are in development, with no release dates. In the meantime you can cast from the Android app to a Chromecast or Google TV, or run the Android app on Android TV or Google TV.
Can I run the Beebo server on Linux?
A Linux beta is coming with the next release, as an AppImage and a .deb package. It is the same desktop server as on Windows. So far it has been tested by automated install and launch on Ubuntu 22.04 only. The download link will appear on the Linux page when the release is published.
Does Beebo cost anything?
Beebo Entertainment is free to use at home. Away-from-home access is also free with a direct connection, automatic UPnP, or your own relay, at any resolution. Beebo Relay, Beebo's own relay servers, is an optional paid fallback for households where none of those work: about CA$3/month for 1080p or CA$5/month for 4K, priced by streaming quality rather than data used. No payment card required to get started.
