Library-sharing terms and acceptable use

What sharing is

Beebo plays films, shows and videos that are on your own computer. Sharing lets you invite someone in another household to watch that same library from your computer, in their own Beebo app. You invite one named person at a time, by their email address. There are no public links, and nobody can search for or discover a library that has not been shared with them.

Only share what you have the right to share

You may only share media that you own, or that you otherwise have the right to share with the people you invite. Before Beebo creates an invite, you confirm this in the app. Beebo keeps a record of that confirmation: which terms version, the date and time, and which account confirmed it.

Do not use sharing to distribute films, shows, music or anything else that you do not have the right to pass on. If you are not sure whether you may share something, do not share it.

No public or commercial redistribution

Sharing is for people you know: family and friends. It is not a way to run a service.

You are responsible for what you share

The library is yours, it sits on your computer, and you decide who sees it. You are responsible for the content in it and for the people you invite. If someone you invited misuses their access, stop sharing with them: it takes effect straight away.

Beebo does not host or see your media

Your films and shows never leave your computer except to go to the people you invited. Beebo has no copy of them, no index of them, and no way to look at them. When a direct connection between the two homes is not possible, the video can pass through Beebo Relay, which forwards encrypted data it cannot read.

What you can limit

For each person you invite you can choose: films, TV, or both; only certain folders; age-rating limits and blocked genres or titles; how many screens they can watch on at once; whether they can download for offline viewing (off unless you turn it on); and an end date.

Revoking, and leaving

Reporting a problem

If you receive an invite you did not expect, or you believe someone is using Beebo sharing for pirated content or anything abusive, report it in the app: More > Shared with you > Report a problem. You do not need an account to report. Reports go to Beebo, not to the library's owner. Beebo may suspend or close an account that misuses sharing, which ends every share that account has.

What Beebo keeps about a share

On Beebo's servers: the share's id, the home's name, the email addresses of the person sharing and the person invited, the label shown to the guest ("Nick's library"), a one-way hash of the invite code, the status, the dates it was created, accepted or ended, any end date, and your rights confirmation (which version, and when). No titles, folders, posters or files. Records of ended shares are deleted 30 days after they end. Reports are kept for 180 days; if you delete your Beebo account, your email address is removed from any report you made.

On the computer doing the sharing: the share itself (who, what it covers, the limits, the confirmation) and, while the share is live, that guest's own watch history and watchlist for your library.

If these terms change

If the wording changes in a way that matters, the next time you share you will be asked to confirm the new version. Shares you already made keep the record of the version you agreed to at the time.
