Automatic intro and credits skipping
Beebo can find where a show’s opening titles start and end, and where the end credits begin, entirely on your own PC. The web player then offers a Skip intro button inside the detected window.
Beta · next release Status: Detection and the web player’s Skip intro button are built and tested, but are not in the current downloads (Windows 0.1.57). The Android app does not read the new markers yet.
How detection works
- Intros. An opening title sequence is the same sound in every episode of a season. Beebo compares the first ten minutes or so of the episodes with each other and keeps the stretch that at least two other episodes confirm. It does not need to “recognise” the music. A run must be between 15 seconds and 3 minutes long, and a cold open before the titles is handled.
- Credits. Only the end of each file is examined (roughly the last 12 minutes, or the last fifth of a short item). Credits are marked where the picture goes dark and stays mostly dark, and the episodes of a season must agree about how far from the end that is. Films are held to a stricter bar.
- Local only. It uses the ffmpeg that ships with Beebo, on your PC. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is looked up online.
- Polite. It works one file at a time (at most two), at low priority, and waits while anyone is watching, converting or transcoding. Results are remembered so a restart does not redo them. If Beebo is not confident, it shows nothing.
- You stay in charge. Anything marked by hand always wins over what Beebo finds, and an explicit clear stays cleared.

Check it is on
On the Beebo PC, open Settings and find Skip intros and credits. The box Detect intros and credits automatically is ticked by default. Untick it any time to stop detection.
What you’ll see: A tick in the box. A progress tile also appears on the Dashboard while Beebo scans.

Let it scan
Leave Beebo running. Scanning happens in the background while nobody is watching, so a big library can take a while to finish.

Use Skip intro in the web player
Play an episode in a browser. While the detected intro is playing, a Skip intro button appears.
What you’ll see: The button only appears inside the detected window. It does not automatically jump to the next episode when it finds credits by itself.

Fix or redo a show
On the website’s admin pages, the Markers tab lets you re-scan or clear a show.
What it cannot do
- It works best on shows with several episodes of a season in your library, all sharing the same opening. A single episode, or a show whose intro changes every week, may get nothing.
- Marks with low confidence are hidden rather than guessed.
- It has been tested on generated audio and sample video, and only lightly on real libraries, so treat it as a beta.
- The Android app and TV apps do not show the new markers yet.
If something goes wrong
There is no Skip intro button
The show may not be scanned yet, the intro may not have been confident enough, or you are using an app that does not read markers yet. Only the web player shows the button so far.
The button skips to the wrong place
Use the Markers tab on the admin site to clear or re-scan that show, and tell us about it at testers@beeboentertainment.com.
Does scanning slow down my PC?
It runs at low priority, one file at a time, and pauses while anyone is watching. You can switch it off in Settings.
