Answers about using Beebo

Not yet as a finished feature. A first version, called Remote Desktop, is inside Beebo for Windows (the current 0.1.113 has it). It is switched off by default and has not been tested on a real phone yet. A simple touchpad-only version is planned. Phone as mouse and keyboard (In development).

Yes, as a Beta. Beebo has a Phone speakers feature. The big screen shows the film and each guest phone plays one channel of its sound, such as front left, front right, centre or surround. Guests join by QR code over local Wi-Fi with no app and no account. So far it has been tested on one computer and in simulation, not yet on real phones over real Wi-Fi. Phone speakers (Beta).

Beebo lets you watch movies, shows and home videos you already have on compatible phones, tablets, browsers and TVs. It builds a library from folders you choose on a Windows 10 or 11 PC. No movies or shows are included.

Beebo Entertainment is free to use at home. Away-from-home access is also free with a direct connection, automatic UPnP, or your own relay, at any resolution. Beebo Relay, Beebo's own relay servers, is an optional fallback for households where none of those work. It is in Beta and works today, but paid plans are Planned and not available to buy yet; see the pricing page. No payment card required to get started.

Yes. Your library is served from your PC, so it has to be on, awake and running Beebo whenever someone watches, at home or away. See Fix connection problems for keeping it awake.

You do not need one to play your files, but posters, cast photos and descriptions come from TMDB, and Beebo asks you to use your own free key. It takes about three minutes; the steps are in Get started on Windows.

The Android app on phones and tablets (Available, as a test download) and any web browser, including Safari on iPhone and iPad (Available). The Android app on Android TV and Google TV, and casting to a Chromecast or Google TV, are Beta. Fire TV, Roku and LG have in-development tester builds you install yourself; Samsung, Xbox and native Apple TV apps are in development, with no download yet. Partly, and we say which part. Android TV and Google TV, and casting, are Beta. Video conversion with your PC’s graphics card and Live TV are Beta in Beebo for Windows; the Linux desktop build is Beta and can be downloaded, and the Docker server is Beta but not offered for download right now. Tester builds for Fire TV, Roku and LG are In development and not tested on real TVs. Passthrough of HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Atmos and DTS:X is in development, so Beebo does not claim it. Not yet. A native iPhone and iPad app (in development) is not published, has never been tested on a real iPhone or iPad, and needs Apple’s approval. iPhone and iPad watch in Safari today, and you can add Beebo to the Home Screen. Offline downloads need the Android app.

Both are betas. The Linux desktop build (an AppImage and a .deb, version 0.1.82) is a beta you can download from the Linux page; it starts in an automated check but has not yet been run on a real Linux desktop by a person. A headless Docker image for Linux servers and NAS boxes is a beta that is not offered for download right now. We have not tested any specific NAS model, and Linux has no automatic updates yet. The old Linux 0.1.58 build and the Docker image were removed on October 4, 2026 because they were many versions behind; the new Linux build is the same version as Windows, and the Docker image is still not offered. Open your free yourname.beebo.tv address, or type your home’s name in the Android app, and sign in. Beebo tries a direct connection to your PC first. Away from home: your three options explains direct, your own relay and Beebo Relay.

No. Your library and video don’t go to Beebo. Beebo’s servers handle sign-in and introductions, meaning finding your PC and setting up the connection. Some optional features talk to other services, and each is listed in Privacy in plain words. The privacy policy has the details.

Beebo is not a children’s app and has no child-themed screens. Adults who run the PC can set age ratings, blocked genres and titles, a daily limit, bedtime hours and an owner PIN. The PC enforces these controls. See Family and profiles.

Yes, on the Android app. Save a title while you are on Wi-Fi. Later, open Downloads to watch it with no signal. Downloads are not available in a browser.

Live TV and DVR are Beta with your own HDHomeRun tuner only, and have not been tested on a real tuner. Adding your own M3U/IPTV playlist is in Beta too (in Beebo for Windows since 0.1.72). Beebo supplies no channels or guide data. A small read-only API with signed webhooks is in Beta too, and there is no plug-in ecosystem. Other media servers are ahead on those, and on how many devices they support. How Beebo compares says where.

Beebo for Windows checks for a newer version when it starts. You can also check yourself: open Settings, click Help & updates, open App updates and click Check for updates. To update the Android app, download the newer file from the Get Beebo section and install it over the old one. Your settings are kept. What’s new lists releases.

Open Settings, click Security & backups, then open Backup & restore. A backup contains none of your movie files. See Back up and restore.

Follow Delete your Beebo Entertainment account. Your movies and shows never leave your computer, so Beebo never had a copy.
