Themes and appearance
The Appearance page lets each person choose how Beebo looks in the browser: dark or light, cool or warm. The choice belongs to your account, follows you to every device you sign in on, and never changes anyone else’s screen.
Beta · next release Status: Themes are built and tested but are not in the current downloads (Windows 0.1.57). The Appearance page appears after the owner updates the Beebo PC to the release that includes it.
Step by step

Open Beebo in a browser and sign in
Use your own login. At home that is the address from the PC’s Get Started screen; anywhere else it is your
yourname.beebo.tvaddress. -
Open Appearance
Click Appearance in the navigation at the top of the page.
What you’ll see: A page headed Appearance that says “Choose how Beebo looks on this account. It applies on every device you sign in to, and other people keep their own.”

Pick a theme
Choose a theme with the round buttons. The page changes colour straight away as a preview, before you save.
What you’ll see: A preview in the theme’s colours, with a swatch strip beside each name.

Save
Click Save appearance.
What you’ll see: The page reloads in your theme. If a problem is found, the page lists it and keeps your old theme.

Optional: adjust a few colours
Under Custom overrides, type one setting per line, like
--gold: #ff8800;. It is applied on top of your theme. Only Beebo’s known colour, gradient and corner-size settings are accepted, and a combination that would make text hard to read is refused. The Variables you can set list on the page shows every name.What you’ll see: A message listing any line Beebo did not accept. Nothing is saved if any line is refused.
The four themes

What is not themed yet
- The video player page has its own look, and a few standalone pages (Suggest a Feature, and some admin and print pages) keep theirs in every theme.
- Some status boxes use fixed colours that do not change with a theme.
- The Beebo Windows app itself and the Android app have their own colours. Themes are for the browser site.
If something goes wrong
I saved colours I cannot read
At the bottom of the Appearance page, the Reset to default box always uses fixed colours, so it stays readable whatever you saved. Its button puts you back on Midnight and removes every custom override. If the page itself is hard to read, open /appearance?safe=1 on your Beebo address, which shows the page in the default colours.
The Appearance link is missing
Themes arrive with the release that follows Windows 0.1.57. Ask whoever runs your Beebo PC whether it has been updated, or check What’s new.
Does my choice change my family’s screens?
No. It is stored per person, so one member’s taste never changes another’s.
