Connect your Android phone to Beebo

The Beebo Android app signs in to the PC you set up, using its address and your username and password. Scan the QR code on the PC with the app’s Scan QR code button to fill in the address, or type it; either way you then sign in with your username and password.

Available Status: The Android app is available as a direct download from this site. A Google Play listing is in development and has not been submitted yet. iPhone and iPad use a browser for now; there is no iPhone app yet. On October 5, 2026, a Galaxy S9+ (Android 10) and a Galaxy S24 Ultra (Android 16) kept their sign-in after installing a newer build over the old one and after a cold start, on home Wi-Fi (builds of the newest code, not the exact published file).

About the QR code

The app can scan it now. The PC’s Get Started screen shows two QR codes. On the Android sign-in screen, tap Scan QR code and point the camera at the first one: it fills in the Home box for you. You still type your username and password; the code never signs you in by itself, and it saves nothing. The second code is for a phone without the app: scan it with your phone’s normal camera app and it opens Beebo in a web browser, which is handy for the browser viewer but does not sign the app in. You can always type the address by hand, as in step 3. A TV has no camera, so type it there.

Step by step

  1. Install the Android app

    On the phone, open the Get Beebo section and tap Download Android APK. When the download finishes, tap the file to install it. Your phone may first ask permission to install apps from your browser: allow it. Android calls this an “unknown source” because the app does not come from the Play Store yet.

    What you’ll see: Beebo opens on a screen headed Beebo Entertainment that says “Sign in once, at home or away, with the same username and password you use for Beebo at home.”

  2. Find your PC’s address

    First, put the phone on the same Wi-Fi as the PC. Then, on the PC, open Beebo and click Get Started. Scroll to step 4, Connect your phone.

    What you’ll see: A few numbers with a colon, like 192.168.1.50:47811, next to a QR code labelled “Scan in the Beebo app”. If it still says “Finding this computer’s address…”, click Refresh.

  3. Fill in the three boxes

    In the app, tap Scan QR code and point the camera at the code on the PC, or type the address into Home yourself. In Username and Password, use the sign-in you made in Get started on Windows, or the one the owner made for you. If you keep mistyping the password, tick Show password to see what you typed.

    What you’ll see: The Home box explains itself: “Your home’s name (like thesmiths or thesmiths.beebo.tv), or the owner’s email.” You can also type the address.

  4. Tap Sign in

    Tap Sign in. Beebo connects to your PC directly when you are on the same Wi-Fi.

    What you’ll see: The app opens, with the tabs Home, Browse, Library, Play and More. See the illustrated tour for where things are.

  5. Use the same app away from home

    Once you have signed in at home, the app can also sign in from anywhere with your home’s name (like thesmiths or thesmiths.beebo.tv) in the Home box. The PC has to be on and signed in to Beebo. Watch away from home explains the options and what they cost.

    What you’ll see: “Connecting to your home…” while it finds the PC, then your library.

iPhone, iPad and other devices

If something goes wrong

It says “Can’t reach the server. Is your home computer on and running Beebo?”

The phone could not find the PC at that address. Check that the PC is on, awake and running Beebo, that the phone is on the same Wi-Fi, and that you typed the address exactly as Get Started shows it, including the :47811 at the end. If that all looks right, see Fix connection problems.

The address changed since yesterday

Home routers can hand out a new local address after a restart. Open Get Started on the PC and click Refresh to see the current one. To stop it changing, you can tell your router to always give the PC the same address (often called a “DHCP reservation” in the router’s settings).

Sign in fails with a username or password error

Use the username and password the owner made for you on the PC, not the password of whoever pays for Beebo. The Owner sign-in link is for the owner’s Beebo account email and password. Owners can add or reset people in the Users tab; see Add & manage people.

I only want to look around first

The sign-in screen has a Look around without a server button. It opens a sample library, and many of the games and Star Chart work on their own, with no computer needed.
