Add & manage people

Your Beebo is yours — nobody watches until you say so. As the owner you decide who gets in, hand out logins, and manage everyone from one place: the Users tab in the app on your computer. Here’s how it all works.

Good to know: the Users tab is only reachable from the Beebo app on your own PC — it’s never exposed to the internet. Anyone who wants to watch needs a login you approve, so your library stays private to the people you choose.

Three ways people get an account

Add them yourself

In Users, type their name (and email, if you like) and click Generate code. Beebo makes them a username and a login code on the spot.

Approve a request

If someone asks for access, they show up under Pending requests. Tap Approve to let them in (and get their code), or Deny to turn them away.

✍️

Let them sign up

People can also visit /signup on your streaming site, pick their own username and password, and verify their email — no code needed. They still appear in your Users list.

Add someone yourself — step by step

  1. Open the Users tab

In the Beebo app on your computer, click 👤 Users.

  2. Fill in “Add a user directly”

Type the person’s name. Adding their email is optional but handy — if you’ve set up sending email, Beebo will email them their login automatically.

  3. Click “Generate code”

Beebo creates their account and shows a green box with their username and login code.

  4. Share their login

If it was emailed, you’re done. Otherwise, just send them their username and code (you can always look it up again next to their name later).

  5. They sign in

They open Beebo on their phone, go to your address, and enter that username and code. Their library appears. See Get Beebo on your phone to help them install it.

  6. It works away from home too

The same name and password get them in from anywhere — they never need the password of whoever pays for Beebo. If they don’t know your web address, send them to login.beebo.tv/find: they type your Beebo account email, then their own name and password, and Beebo finds your home for them. See Watch away from home.

Managing people later

Every person in your All users list has a row with these options:

Keeping logins safe: the 🛡️ Admin tab handles security. There you can set how many wrong-password tries trigger a lockout and for how long, and add a notify email so you get an alert if someone’s hammering the login. (Sending alerts also needs a sender email set up in Settings.)

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The login code didn’t get emailed

Beebo only emails logins if you’ve set up a sender email account in Settings and put an email on the person’s account. No email set up? No problem — the code is always shown next to their name, so you can copy and send it yourself.

Someone forgot their code or password

Open Users, find their row, and either tap New code (for code logins) or reset password (for password logins), then send them the new one.

I want to pause someone without deleting them

Use Revoke — it blocks their access but keeps the account and their watch history. Tap Reactivate whenever you want to let them back in.

What can an Admin do?

An admin can help you manage users and settings from the app. Only give Admin to people you fully trust — for everyday family members, leave it unchecked.

A request is stuck on “pending email verification”

That means a self-signup hasn’t clicked the verification link in their email yet. Ask them to check their inbox (and spam). Once verified, their account activates on its own.

Is any of this visible on the internet?

Not to your viewers. An ordinary account only ever sees the sign-in screen and, once approved, the library — never the Users or Admin tabs, which live inside the app on your PC.

There is one exception, and it’s deliberate: if you mark an account as an admin, that person can open an owner console in a browser over your secure address, so you can manage things from your phone without walking to the PC. Only accounts you have explicitly flagged as admin can reach it. If you’d rather nobody could, don’t hand out the admin flag.
