Use your phone as a mouse and keyboard for your PC

Beebo for Windows has a first version of this, called Remote Desktop. It is in development, switched off by default, and has not been tested on a real phone yet. This page says plainly what exists today and what is only planned.

Can I use my phone to move my computer’s mouse with Beebo?

Not yet as a finished feature. A first version, called Remote Desktop, is inside Beebo for Windows. It is switched off by default and has not been tested on a real phone yet. A simple touchpad-only version is planned.

In development Honest status: automated tests only. It has never been run on a real phone or in a real computer session.

What it does today

The current Beebo for Windows (0.1.82) contains Remote Desktop. When the owner has switched it on and approved it at the PC, a phone or any web browser on the same Wi-Fi can show the PC screen, move the mouse and type. The same works through the owner’s own away-from-home connection.

It is a first version. It is not a finished phone touchpad, and we do not say it works on every phone.

What keeps it safe

Honest status

In development Status: checked by automated tests only. It has not been tested on a real phone or in a real computer session. It may have problems we have not found. Do not rely on it.

What is planned

A simpler touchpad-only mode is planned: no screen sharing, just a touchpad and a keyboard on your phone. Planned We have no date for it.

Questions

Can I use my phone to move my computer’s mouse with Beebo?

Not yet as a finished feature. A first version, called Remote Desktop, is inside Beebo for Windows (it is in the current version, 0.1.82). It is switched off by default and has not been tested on a real phone yet. A simple touchpad-only version is planned.

Is Remote Desktop on by default?

No. It is off by default. Only the owner of the PC can switch it on, in Settings.

Who can use it?

Only the owner. Other household members and guests cannot use it.

Does the PC ask before someone can see or control it?

Yes. The PC asks for a separate local approval for viewing and another for controlling, each time. Someone has to approve at the PC itself.

Can I use it away from home?

It works from a phone or any browser on the same Wi-Fi, or through the owner’s own away-from-home connection.

What if I forget to stop it?

It stops by itself after 5 minutes without use. There is also an emergency stop key on the PC.

Has it been tested on a real phone?

No. It has never been run on a real phone or in a real computer session. So far it has only been checked by automated tests. We do not claim it works on every phone or that it is ready.

What is the touchpad-only mode?

It is a planned, simpler mode with no screen sharing. Your phone would show only a touchpad and a keyboard. It is planned, with no date.

How can I try it?

It is not offered for general testing yet. Watch this page for news, or ask us at testers@beeboentertainment.com.
