Playing Beebo on a TV

Today you can run the Beebo Android app on an Android TV or Google TV, cast from your phone to a Chromecast or Google TV, or install an in-development tester build on a Fire TV, Roku or LG TV. Samsung, Xbox and native Apple TV apps are in development, with no download yet. For the wider home-theater picture see Home theater and big screen.

Beta Status: Android TV and Google TV run the Android app, and casting works from the Android app; both are Beta. On October 5, 2026, casting to a real Chromecast TV from a Galaxy S9+ and a Galaxy S24 Ultra started first try in about 8 seconds, and pause, resume, seek, stop and recast worked (21 of 22 checks passed, on home Wi-Fi). The one failure: stopping a cast right after switching to the next episode left the phone’s own player unable to play until you reopen the episode. That is now fixed: the fix passed a re-test (8 of 8 checks) and will be in the next Android test build, not in tester12. Fire TV, Roku and LG have in-development tester builds (October 5, 2026) that have not been tested on a real TV yet. Samsung, Xbox and Apple TV apps are in development, with no download yet. Install Beebo on Android TV or Google TV

  1. Get the Android app file

    On a phone or computer, open the Get Beebo section and download the Android app. It is the same app as the phone version. It is built for both older (32-bit) and newer (64-bit) chips, and many TV devices need the older kind.

  2. Put it on your TV

    There is no TV-specific installer. The menus vary between TVs, but the steps are usually:

    1. Copy the file to the TV, for example on a USB drive.
    2. On the TV, open the file with a file manager app.
    3. Android asks you to allow installs from that app. Allow it, then install Beebo.

    What you’ll see: Beebo appears among your TV’s apps with its own launcher icon.

  3. Sign in with your remote

    On a TV, the first screen offers a code for Link a TV (see If something goes wrong below). To type your details with the remote instead, select Sign in with email and password instead. Then fill in three boxes and select Sign in:

    1. Home: your home’s name (like thesmiths or thesmiths.beebo.tv), or the owner’s email.
    2. Username: your own Beebo username.
    3. Password: your Beebo password.

    What you’ll see: Your library, with a menu rail down the left side. Use the remote’s directional pad to move around and seek.

Casting from your phone

  1. Start playing on your phone

    Open Beebo, pick a movie or show and press play as usual.

  2. Tap the Cast button

    It is the screen-with-waves icon (Cast to TV) in the player’s top bar. It appears when a Chromecast or Google TV is found on your Wi-Fi.

  3. Pick your TV

    Choose it from the list. The film moves to the TV and your phone becomes the remote.

Casting needs your phone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi, so it works at home, or wherever you and the TV share a network. The downloadable Android app casts to Google devices only; for AirPlay, watch in Safari.

Still to come

In development Fire TV, Roku and LG have tester builds on the Beebo-TV-test-2026-10-05 release, with install guides for Fire TV, Roku and LG. None has been tested on a real TV yet, and none is in a TV app store. Samsung and Xbox apps are In development, with no download yet. Store versions would each have to pass the store’s review; there are no dates. Roku and Samsung and LG each have their own page.

In development Native Apple TV, iPhone and iPad apps are not published. See the Apple page. Until then, Safari and AirPlay work.

If your TV can run a compatible third-party app, the beta compatible third-party mode in Beebo for Windows (0.1.58 and newer) may help in the meantime. It is off by default and has not been tried with real compatible third-party apps. See compatible third-party apps with Beebo.

If something goes wrong

Signing in with the TV remote is slow

Use Link a TV where the TV offers it. The TV shows a code, and you approve it in the Beebo phone app under More › Settings › Link a TV. It needs the newest phone app and is Beta, not yet tested on a real TV. Otherwise every character is typed by hand.

Some phone features are missing on the TV

Campsite Mode, Game Night, Star Chart, Nearby, Scavenger Hunt, Trip Clock, Trail Kit, Space Saver and offline Downloads are hidden on a TV, and buying or subscribing is not available there.

The Cast button is missing

Check that the phone and the Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi (guest networks and 2.4 GHz versus 5 GHz splits can hide them from each other), that the TV is on, and that you are on the player screen. Reopen the movie and look at the top bar again.

My TV is not listed

There is no published list of tested TV models. If Beebo does not work on your TV, tell us which one at testers@beeboentertainment.com.
